COMMUNITY VIOLENCE INTERVENTION & REDUCTION BENEFIT
Led by CVI program partner Lee Davis, the MHCCSVI Program has a direct benefit of Proactive Intervention for young adults (ages 12-24) to prevent future self-destructive & criminal behavior by addressing critical needs:
• Continuity of Care: Provides behavioral & mental health support throughout the justice cycle, from pre-trial to reentry, fostering sustained improvement.
• Staff Shortages: By automating initial assessments and easing documentation burdens, the program empowers AIU behavioral & mental health professionals to focus on deeper therapeutic interventions for at risk youth displaying higher levels of social & emotional issues.
• Multilingual Populations: Justice systems often serve diverse communities. The MHCCSVI program offers culturally competent support through its multilingual platform.
• Recidivism Reduction: Addressing behavioral & mental health needs is crucial for successful reintegration. The MHCCSVI program can provide ongoing support during the critical reentry period for juveniles.
• Trauma Related Therapy and Continuity of Care: via the unified platform CVI organization in collaboration with MHCCSVI can provide trauma related care to youth that have victimized or have been witness to community violence
The program also aligns with the PENNSYLVANIA COMMISSION ON CRIME & DELINQENCY 2021-2025 Strategic Framework with special focus on the mission of the Mental Health and Justice Advisory Committee. The response leverages proven CVI principles and systems with the larger goal of including the MHCCSVI program as part of an Inter-Agency Unified Digital Therapeutic Platform (IAUDTP) for Allegheny County, Western Pennsylvania, and ultimately State-wide.
